Hello from Arequipa Tomorrow I plan to see patients in the morning. Then to prepare for our El Misti climb for Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday to Cusco to Machu Picchu. Jenny, John, Joe, Jodi and DJ are going to Cusco tomorrow. We have taken lots of pictures and will have to share them wiht the stories. Jim and others who weren't presenting had delivered meals today and had quite the experience. I talked with a doctor who wanted to know the difference between our home and Arequipa. She was surprised to hear that we have thermastat control in our homes, cars, and our work places to regulate our temperatures. None are here in Arequipa. She was shocked to hear how cold it can be in Wisconsin and snow was an amazing thought. This has been an excellent experience and I am grateful to have come. More later and when I get back. Janine and Jim
The time has gone fast. Tuesday started our conference. We has about 25 participants consisting of doctors and nurses. We received a very friendly reception from each of them. We would get the customary handshake with a kiss on the right cheek with a salutation of buenas dias...the same at the end of the day with the salutation of gracias or hasta vista. All participants were very engaged with all of our presentations. After the conference today, all the participants stayed for a short reception. It was good to mingle and chat with participants. Then before they left, each of them came to each of us with the customary handshake and kiss on the right cheek with the saluation of gracias. They all really appreciated our time with them. It felt really good.
