Today, we went to the clinic with Bob. I spent the morning in the treatment room with Olfa she is one of the nurses. I just did observation. She was doing injections for variety of things, neb treatments, and even steri stripped little one's face small face wound.
She got bit by dog the family dog. We all had interpreters working with us. Nice young people. Juan is the young man working with me. He is in his last year of study for engineering but I think Peru will have a future nurse. He was so kind and gentle helping the elderly people get into the rooms. etc. Juan, John and I went on the food delivery. They feed 550 people Monday to Friday. There are 9 drop off points for the food. The people come to these drop off points wtih containers to take the food home. Fr. Alex said for most this would be their only meal of the day. They get a soup, something like a hot dish, and some type of liquid white protein drink. They then deliver to the home bound. We met a few of these people most of who were elderly. There was the roof lady and the kissing lady which we will have to tell you about sometime. The food program is very well organized. They even carry buckets of water so they can was the containers for the people that do not have water. Many of these place do not have water. They go to a community container or a water truck comes. The people we met are so greatful. Very humbling experience. In the USA majority of us have no idea what true proverty is.
