This morning we visited Samuel at the General Hospital and spoke with his surgeon, Dr. Jorge Almendariz Zenteno. Dr. Jorge Almendariz explained that Samuel's first operation was very successful and was hoping to perform the second operation on Samuel's hands in the beginning of August. After Samuel starts physical therapy of his hands he will have regained almost 80% use of his hands. The doctor is planning for Samuel to start therapy around June 15th.

Additionally, Dr. Jorge reported that Samuel would most likely be discharged from the hospital on Friday. Maria, the social worker from the Alto Cayma Mission is working with Samuel's wife to make arrangements for his discharge.

We were also able to watch the dressing change of Samuel's hands. It was remarkable to see the improvements of his hands. While the scars and scabs still need healing he was able to move his fingers. He is very excited to start rehab.

Sending many greetings and blessings from Alto Cayma and hoping all is well at Affinity and in Wisconsin!

Karen
